One of the first major sport stadiums in Ranger was Nitro Park
which was built during the boom time of the 1920s. The baseball
stadium had covered seating but the football field had no bleachers
or sodded field. This was the home of the Rampagers football
team. In 1925 a new stadium was built and named Lillard Field.
Bulldog Stadium was built in 1935 with electric lighting. This
stadium was used for many years and was the home of the 1953 State
Champions. The stadium was upgraded in 1996 and named O.C. Warden
Stadium after coach O.C. "Stubby" Warden who coached the 1953 team.
Ellis Burks Field at Ranger College was built with the help of Ellis
Burks (baseball player for the Indians).
