LEANN PATE WILSON, 41, of Ranger, TX passed
away April 15, 2004 from injuries sustained in an
automobile accident, with burial in Bullock Cemetery
near Ranger.
Leann was born on April 25, 1962 in Abilene, TX the
daughter of Leland & Wanda Taylor Pate. She moved
to Lake Leon in 1974 with her family. She attended
school in Eastland and was a graduate of Ranger High
School. She married Jimmy Don Wilson (RHS-1974) in
April of 1978 in Abilene, TX. Leann worked for Nancy
Trout in the Tax Office as a bookkeeper &
registration of vehicles. She also worked for Mangum
Service Center as a secretary. Then she went into
nursing, attending one year at Ranger Jr. College
in Graham to receive her LVN and she later went to
Tarleton State University to receive her RN. Leann
went to work for the Family Health Clinic and then
to Eastland Memorial Hospital for the last 12 years
in Ambulatory Care, surgery and labor and delivery.
Leann is a member of the First Baptist Church in
Ranger.
At the time of her death, she was survived by her
husband, Jimmy Don Wilson of Ranger; her parents,
Leland and Wanda Pate of Lake Leon; children, J.D.
Wilson and wife Libby of Ranger, Kristin Boring and
husband Chris of Bryan, and Wade Chance Wilson (RHS-
2004) of Ranger; brother, Ray Pate (RHS-1980) and
wife Bobbie of Abilene; a grandson, Dylan Wilson;
and numerous nieces and nephews.
FATHER: LELAND PATE, a beloved father,
grandfather, skilled mechanic, & cherished community
member, passed away peacefully on March 19, 2025,
at the age of 88. Burial was in Bullock Cemetery
near Ranger, TX.
Born on June 25, 1936 in Spurger, TX to Clarence
Raymond & Rose Weldon (Bendy) Pate, Leland made a
lasting impact on all who knew him throughout his
remarkable life.
A proud veteran of the U.S. Navy, Leland served
aboard the USS Bremerton, where he developed a
commitment to hard work and excellence that would
define his career. He spent many years working
tirelessly in oilfield construction for Wilson
Oilfield Services, demonstrating his deep expertise
and dedication to the industry.
In addition to his work in oilfield construction,
Leland was the owner/operator of Lake Leon Boat-Tel
& Cafe for 38 years, creating a welcoming community
hub where countless memories were made around
delicious catfish, steaks and good company. He was
known to be a straight shooter, as tough as they
come, but also for his generosity.
He was married to his beloved wife, El-Wanda Taylor,
in Feb. of 1959 in Tuscola, and together they built
a life filled with love, hard work and adventures.
He is survived by his son, Raymond Pate and wife,
Bobbie of Abilene; son-in-law Jimmy Don Wilson of
Ranger; three grandsons, J.D. Wilson and wife,
Arrianna of Ranger, Lucas Pate and wife, Amanda
of Bryan, Chance Wilson and wife, Wanda of Ranger,
four granddaughters, Kristin Lee and husband, Keven
of Midland, D'nae Veit and husband, Chase of Bryan,
Mistie Conklin of Midland, and Tifine Conklin of
Midland; and 15 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Clarence
and Rose Pate; his wife, El-Wanda Pate; and a
daughter, Leann Wilson (RHS-1979).
Though Leland may be gone from our sight, his spirit
will live on in the hearts of all those he touched.
MOTHER: WANDA TAYLOR PATE, 69, of Ranger, TX
passed away May 28, 2010 in Abilene, TX, with burial in
Bullock Cemetery near Ranger.
Wanda was born Jan. 18, 1941 in Rotan, TX to R.P & Vivian
Jenkins Taylor. She married Leland Pate in Feb. of 1959.
Wanda was a loving & caring person who loved to spend time
with her friends and family. She loved to knit and crochet
and was a prayer warrior. She will be missed by all that
knew her.
She was preceded in death by her parents and daughter, Leann
Wilson.
She is survived by her husband, Leland Pate, son, Raymond Pate
and wife Bobbie of Abilene and son-in-law, Jimmy Don Wilson;
brother Odell Taylor and wife Nancy of Brownwood; sisters,
Leta Marsh and husband L.H. of Abilene and Tempie Kirk of
Wylie; grandchildren, Misty Conklin and Tiffany Conklin of
Odessa, J.D. Wilson and wife Libby of Olden. Kristin Lee
and husband Kevin Jr. of Ranger, Lucas Pate and wife Amanda
of Bryan, TX, Chance Wilson of Ranger and Dnae Pate of Bryan,
TX; 10 great-grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews and
nephew, Jan Pate of Ranger.
