Ranger Exes Memorial - RHS Class of 1960 RJC

Patsy Vinson Martin PATSY MARIE VINSON MARTIN, 74, passed away on Sept. 17, 2016, with burial in the Buffalo Gap Cemetery, TX. Patsy was born to J.W. & Stella (Kitchens) Vinson on May 26, 1942 in Ranger, TX. She attended school in Ranger and graduated from high school in 1960. She was a majorette and voted basketball queen while attending Ranger Jr. College in Ranger. Patsy married Jimmy Ray Martin on Aug. 18, 1962 and moved to Abilene, TX where she worked at Thortons Department store. In 1963 they welcomed their first child, a daughter named Kelli and in 1967 a son named Kirk. She and Jimmy Moved to Buffalo Gap 1976. It was a year later that Patsy volunteered to sub for the Buffalo Gap Elementary school cook for a couple of weeks, after 26 years of "subbing" she retired from the school as head cook. Her loves were her family, grandchildren and great- grandson. Her second love were Christmas, summertime and Elvis. At the time of her retirement, the faculty at Buffalo Gap presented her with a trip to Graceland. Her love for Elvis continued as she had dedicated a room full of memorabilia in his name. During Christmas time, she often told people that she put up so many lights outside that she could not turn on her Christmas lights and microwave at the same time without blowing a breaker. Patsy is survived by her husband of fifty three years, Jimmy of Buffalo Gap; daughter, Kelli Ethridge and husband Keith of Tuscola, son Kirk Martin of Tuscola, brother Rickey Vinson (RHS-1974) of Las Vegas NV, brother Dwight Vinson (RHS-1970) of Eastland, five grandchildren and one great-grandson. Her parents & one sister Rita Vinson Munoz (RHS-1963) preceded her in death. HUSBAND: JIMMY RAY MARTIN, 78,, was called to his eternal resting place on May 5, 2017. He was born on July 14, 1938 in Carbon, TX to Ralph & Frankie Martin. When he was three years old his family moved to Eastland, Tx. He attended grade school, junior high and high school in Eastland. He graduated with the class of 1957. Being an Eastland Maverick and having his best friend Leo Smith, was one of the best times of his life. He loved telling stories of his high school football days. He joined the U.S. Army in 1958 with his dear friend Terry Warren. He did a tour in Germany and then Fort Hood. In 1961, he met his future wife, Patsy Martin. They married in August of 1962. They moved to Abilene, TX where they built their first home. In 1963, they welcomed home a daughter named Kelli and then in 1967 a son named Kirk. In 1976 they moved to Buffalo Gap, TX where they lived until his death. He worked at Western Plumbing Wholesalers where he spent 32 years in their sales department before retiring. Jimmy loved spending time outdoors at his home. He enjoyed watching his grandchildren growing up and playing in their back yard pool. Jimmy is survived by his daughter Kelli Ethridge; son-in- law Keith Ethridge, his son Kirk Martin, four grandchildren and two great grand children
