JUNE ANN MORTON BRYAN, 82, of Plainview,
TX, died on Jan. 12, 2015, with burial at the
cemetery in Ralls, TX.
June Bryan was born on Jan. 27, 1932, in
Ranger, TX. She was the daughter of Gorman
and Gladys Morton, and attended Ranger High
School, graduating in 1949. She attended
Ranger Junior College from 1949-1951 where
she was voted Most Represented Girl in School
as well as a Princess at the college. She was
also involved in band, choir, drama, and the
Spanish club. It was while working in Ranger
that she met Boyce Ardell Bryan whom she later
married. June attended Texas Tech University
where she earned a Bachelor's degree in Speech
Therapy in 1953, and earned a Master's degree
in Education from Tech in 1958. She later taught
speech therapy in Ralls in 1953-54, and in Waco
in 1954-55. June was an elementary school teacher
in Lubbock from 1956-1961, and later at several
schools in Plainview beginning in Jan. of 1974,
including Ash and College Hill. She finished her
career at La Mesa Elementary, teaching fourth
grade, where she was loved by many students,
before retiring after 29 years of teaching. June
Bryan was a member of the Retired Teachers'
Association & the High Plains Genealogy Society
in Plainview. She was also very active at First
United Methodist Church Plainview, including
several years in the church choir and in Women's
Circles. She loved to teach children, and they
especially loved it when she would read stories
to them, such as Little Women.
At the time of her death, June was survived by
her husband, Boyce Bryan of Plainview; and two
daughters, Leigh Crane and Susan Binford. Leigh
is married to Tim Crane of Lubbock and they
have one daughter, Brittany, who is married to
Nick Karnezis of Albuquerque, NM. Susan is
married to Joe Binford of Waco and they have
two daughters, Jennifer (of Holland, TX) and
Josilyn (student at Sam Houston State University).
June also has one great-granddaughter, Jaclyn,
who is the daughter of Jennifer & Bruce Dareing.
Edna Morton McKelvain (RHS-1943) was her sister.
HUSBAND: BOYCE ARDELL BRYAN, 92, a
longtime resident of Plainview and former resident
of Ralls, passed away on Feb. 10, 2026.
He was born on Aug. 14, 1933, in the Owens Community
of Crosby County to E.G. and Nellie James Bryan.
Boyce graduated from Ralls High School and went on
to earn both his bachelor’s and master’s degrees in
Agriculture from Texas Tech University. His education
was briefly interrupted by his service in the U.S.
Army during the Korean War. In Aug. of 1953, he married
June Morton (RHS-1949) in Ranger, TX. They later
welcomed two daughters, Leigh Ann and Susan.
Boyce led a full and interesting life. He began his
career with the Texas Soil Conservation Service before
transitioning into full-time farming. After moving to
Plainview, he became a real estate broker and eventually
opened Boyce Bryan Realty. Later, he returned to his
first love—agriculture—bringing his life’s work full circle.
Deeply civic-minded, Boyce served as past president of the
Plainview Lions Club and the Golden Gloves organization
and was an avid supporter of the Plainview Salvation Army.
He was also an active member of First United Methodist
Church in Plainview. In recent years, he was honored to
be selected to participate in a Veteran’s Honor Flight to
Washington, D.C.
Boyce was preceded in death by his parents; seven brothers
and sisters; and his wife of 61 years, June.
He is survived by his daughter Leigh Crane of Lubbock and
her husband, Tim; daughter Susan Binford of Toronto, Canada,
& her husband, Joe; three granddaughters, Brittany Karnezis,
Jenny Binford, and Josilyn Hughes; three great-granddaughters;
and one great-grandson on the way.
